This private, 18-hole golf course sits on a high ridge above the majestic Tippecanoe Lake. Though not a resort course, the 6,000 yard layout caters mostly to seasonal members who stop by to play while visiting their summer cottages along the water. With this limited membership, and thus a limited budget, the small maintenance crew had always struggled to find the man hours necessary to maintain their numerous, high-flash bunkers. In 2012, Lohmann Quitno was hired to facilitate a Bunker Renovation Program, with specific focus on reducing the number of bunkers and building them in a style that reduces erosion and contamination. The redevelopment program sought to decrease long-term sand maintenance while enhancing the strategic value by placing the bunkers in more effective locations. Implemented in Fall 2013, the bunker renovation has resulted in an average annual savings of over 250 man hours of work for the grounds staff and a much higher, consistent level of bunker quality that is greatly appreciated by the members!
